SUPER CRO Incorporated stared in 2006 as a group of mental health consumers at St Vincents Hospital who came together on a Wednesday afternoon as the SUPER Group. SUPER is an acronym for Service Users, Participating, Educating and Researching.

In 2016 Gary Parker from Kansac CAC led a two-day workshop to develop a strategic plan. Since then a small group has been meeting monthly to develop SUPER CRO Incorporated. Initially, the Consumer Run Organistion (CRO) was going to be called Project Independence. Unfortunately, that name was taken and the members decided on SUPER CRO.
